Outdoor Performance at Stanford's Updated Frost Amphitheater

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 30, 2021—Fans of San Francisco Ballet can finally rejoice. After seventeen months of online, virtual performances, San Francisco Ballet announced today their pre-2022 season return to performing onstage in front of an audience. On August 13 and 14 the Company will present "Starry Nights: SF Ballet's Return to the Stage" at Stanford University's Frost Amphitheater. In partnership with Stanford Live, this performance is the Company's debut at Frost Amphitheater and their first performance at Stanford University in over half a century.

"Starry Nights: SF Ballet's Return to the Stage" includes Serenade and Tarantella by George Balanchine, Danielle Rowe's For Pixie, and Helgi Tomasson's The Fifth Season. Music will be performed by members of San Francisco Ballet Orchestra under the direction of Martin West. An additional pas de deux and casting will be announced at a later date.

"We are thrilled to perform at Frost Amphitheater after many months of on-screen dance," says San Francisco Ballet Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson. "Starry Nights is a celebration of our dancers' resilience and a symbol of gratitude to the community that has ushered us through this remarkable time. It is time for us to be back on stage, under the stars, doing what we do best."

Frost Amphitheater was refurbished in 2019 to include new audience conveniences and performer amenities, replacing backstage tents with dressing rooms and a state-of-the-art green room. (See the BayDance.com article Stanford's Revitalized Frost Amphitheater is a Bay Area Bonus.)
