ODC Resident Artist Program Call for Applications
Applications due May 1
ODC Theater has announced a call for applications for the ODC Resident Artist Program. The Artist-in-Residence offers a crucial developmental opportunity for Bay Area artists with an active, recent history of creation and presentation. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a clear and distinct artistic vision, rigor of practice, and point of view through their work. The program is a three-year commitment to selected participants that includes:
- artistic commissions
- creative space
- choreographic and administrative mentorship and support
- an annual retreat
- technical residencies
- preview performances
The opportunities are intended to support artists in basic research and development, fully exploring a particular concept/project, and creating a foundation of support as they create work and forge opportunities to increase public understanding of new work.
The next resident artists and companies will be selected in the spring of 2018 and announced in the summer of 2018. Applications are due May 1, 2018 by 11:59pm.
Four artists will be selected by a panel of representatives from ODC Theater staff, ODC/Dance staff, current and past resident artists and a representative from the Dance Jam. Artists under consideration will be invited to an interview occurring in late May. Participants will be notified as to the status of their application by June 18.
